The place
Towering red 'flowerpot' sea stacks you can walk around on the ocean floor at low tide — then watch the world's highest tides swallow them, letting kayakers paddle where you just stood.
The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides on the planet, and Hopewell Rocks is the best place to feel their scale. At low tide you walk on the ocean floor among towering red sandstone 'flowerpot' stacks; a few hours later the same ground is under many metres of water and kayakers paddle where you just stood.
Your visit is ruled by the tide chart, so check it before you go — the site posts the day's low and high times. A single ticket is valid for two consecutive days, which is the smart way to experience both extremes without rushing.
