The place

A 9-kilometre waterfront loop around a 400-hectare rainforest peninsula in the middle of the city — cycle or walk past totem poles, beaches and the downtown skyline, all beneath giant cedars.

Stanley Park proves you don't have to leave the city to get outdoors. The 9-kilometre Seawall loops the entire peninsula, passing beaches, the totem poles at Brockton Point, Prospect Point's harbour views and stands of cedar and fir taller than anything downtown.

Rent a bike near the Denman Street entrance and ride the loop counter-clockwise (the cycle lane is one-way), or slow down for the interior forest trails and Beaver Lake. It's free, flat and open year-round — the easiest big-nature hit in the country.
